buff bunny smoothie!

Folks who know me well know that I’ve been hitting the gym with ferocity. From jump squats to finding my center on a yoga mat to hitting the trails, albeit virtually in a cycling class, I’ve fallen in love the space of time from when my workout ends and I leave the room. In that moment I’m exhilarated, spent, re-energized. I often think about a phoenix and this notion of rebirth, the feeling of shedding of what was — whether it’s an exhausting day at the office or a fleeting emotion — to realizing the person you ought to become. Last year I renewed my commitment to myself and my health; I wanted my body to be a home worth living in. So I sought out a fitness path that hurtled me out of my comfort zone and challenged me beyond measure, and although I’m not the skinny minnie I once was, I’m the strongest and healthiest I’ve ever been.

Lately I’ve been a little obsessed with spinning. It reminds me of yoga in the sense that the workout is incredibly personal and customizable to your day, the way your body is feeling and reacting to motion. I like visualizing an open, expansive road and I’m driving, propelling myself forward. Always forward. And after class, as I leave drenched in sweat and catatonic, I immediately think of food.

AH! Funny how that is.

Instead of chowing down on a pile of food that will ultimately be my ruin, I’ve been feeling full from my “Buff Bunny” smoothie. It’s got loads of potassium, protein, and all that great nutrients that will make you feel good and satiated.

INGREDIENTS
1/2 cup frozen blueberries
1 banana, chopped
1 tbsp peanut butter
1 tbsp whey protein
1/2 cup almond milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 ice cubes

DIRECTIONS
Blitz + serve!
